Changing Your Lifestyle to Prevent Hemoroids

Preventing is the key to good health, is the message any medical professional can tell to you. Prevention of hemoroids becomes absolutely important, knowing the frustrating and embarrassing of all problems related to it. What methods do your follow to prevent the onset of hemoroids? First, identify whether your susceptibility factor. You are more susceptible to developing hemoroids if you are: male, above fifty years of age, fat, have some kind of digestive illness, and spend a huge time standing or lifting heavy objects. Even though, you will not belong to these categories, it is still a good idea to take quite a few proactive steps towards a lifestyle that promotes health and undermine the effects of hemoroids.

Change Your Diet to Prevent Hemoroids

The first most considerable thing you can do to avert hemoroids is to alter your diet. Fiber-rich diet is the diet that is almost any doctor or nutritionists propose to if you want to prevent hemoroids .Why? Fiber adds bulk to your stool, making it softer and easier to pass through the anal canal. When a stool is solid and arid, it can become very difficult to pass through the anal canal. This in turn causes straining, and may lead to the development of the distended blood vessels that amount to most types of hemoroids.

The ideal, anti-hemorrhoid diet would comprise lots of fruits, vegetables, and plenty of liquids (mostly water). If you are susceptible to hemorroids, fiber supplements are a good idea. You can consume over the counter fiber supplements such as Metamucil, Fiber Choice, and Citrucel. Softening of your stool and regularizing your bowel movements are the areas in which these fiber supplements can help. Prior to using stool softeners, speak with your doctor about using them. These must be used with proper attention, since too much fiber can cause its own set of dilemmas. For instance, if you run through too much fiber, you become more prone to gas, and may even make severe constipation worse. Drinking plenty of water will help to ensure balance out any fiber supplementation program.

Change Your Bathroom Habits

Many people afflicted with digestive disorders such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) are also afflicted with hemoroids. If you suffer from severe constipation, for example, you may be more susceptible to hemoroids because constipation may effect in extreme straining. You should work hard to make bowel movements as painless and strain-free as possible. Never feel strain, and never attempt to 'hold' bowel movements for later. Holding stool causes it to become rigid and difficult to pass through the anal canal.

Get Your Exercise

In preventing the onset of hemoroids, getting exercise can prove very important. Exercise can help decrease your weight, which is important because one of the main risk factors for developing hemoroids is being overweight. Obesity causes a great hurt on your body's blood vessels, and may cause them to enlarge, thus leading to hemoroids. The probability for undergoing hemoroids is much likely, if you manage to get enough physical activity into your schedule.
